In a statement via the official GSC Twitter account, the cinema chain says that all shows at its Mid Valley branch will be cancelled, meaning the cancellations are not just limited to today’s movies. In a later update, the company says that the cancellations are being extended to shows at the Aurum Theatre at The Gardens Mall as well.

We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing situation at Mid Valley Megamall KL, our Aurum Theatre at The Gardens Mall will also be temporarily closed until further notice. We will be issuing refunds for all purchased tickets, same practice as above. We… — GSC 🎂 (@GSCinemas) May 17, 2023 Either way, for its refunds, GSC says that those who bought their tickets online will be automatically refunded. Those who bought physical tickets on ground, on the other hand, things might get a little complicated. This is because you’ll have to return the ticket to the cinema in question “once we open for a refund within seven days”. Granted, the two malls in Mid Valley City will probably not take a whole week to reopen, but you’ll have to check back every once in awhile to see when that is going to happen. And with the fire having happened only a couple of hours ago, we’re unlikely to get much on that front just yet. All this can understandably be quite the letdown if you haven’t and have been looking forward to catching Fast X or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this week. Unfortunately, the only options available now are either to wait and see what happens next, or to go somewhere else if you must watch either of the movies this week.

Your refund is on the way, we promise! But don’t let it spoil your movie plan – go watch it in any of our open GSC cinemas and get a free popcorn… pic.twitter.com/wOMCxtdfLW — GSC 🎂 (@GSCinemas) May 17, 2023 Update 5:20PM: GSC is offering free popcorn for those who were affected by the cancelled shows at the Mid Valley Megamall. The Gardens Mall and NU Sentral outlets. All you need to do is show your cancelled ticket alongside the new one. Don’t throw away the old one though if you still want your refund.
